The Forest Bushcraft Hunter Gatherer course is something quite unique; the idea for the course is to make a blend of bushcraft skills within the Forest of Deans historic landscape and features all tied together by our outdoor skills specialist Mark Austin.
This is very much a roaming course living as closely to the way our hunter gatherer ancestors lived, moving from place to place exploiting nature’s larder along the way. On this course it will be ‘back to basics’ all the way (with the exception of clothing!) as we will be sleeping where nature provides; under rock shelters, in caves, and in woodland under shelters made from natural materials. Some of the food consumed on the course will be gathered on our travels too!
The route will take us through areas of the beautiful Forest of Dean, and we will stay in caves close to one of the most famous prehistoric dwelling caves in the British Isles(King Arthurs Cave).
Along with back-packing and cave dwelling, the course will practise the following bushcraft skills:
As the course will involve a great deal of walking and backpacking, a reasonable level of fitness will be required and high quality foot-ware will be a must.
Course Duration – 2 days / weekend - Fully catered
We are able to cater for individuals, small or large groups so please phone to discuss your requirements / availability.
